We are booking a tour in Asia/Australia for the fall..Canada Solo Tour after that...recording a new album with some originals and some Schubert, Brahms, Bowie, Radiohead and Oasis..

Tour Report:
25 security check points, 18 airplanes , 11 concerts and 4 hours of sleep per day....whew time to take a break from traveling....After playing in Singapore, Bangkok, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Auckland in 12 Days, I want to thank Mark Bolam and Jaques Helmus as well as Lise Detergne for making this tour happen.

so the trio got selected from 240 bands to be part of the 6 finalists to compete at http://www.futuresoundsjazz.de/ at the Leverkusener Jazztage this November.

also, we are releasing our new Album in January 2012on BHM-Music and touring the whole year in support of the record!!!!

Well, it seems that Jazz is alive and well in Asia. All the contacts where very reliable promoters who took their job seriously by treating us very well and accomodating us to their fullest abilities. Im happy to see so many people so personally invested in helping Jazz continue to grow and stay alive in this part of the world.
Bangkok:
In Bangkok, Mark Bolam and Hong (who is a great drummer himself) where such amazing hosts and cared for us in a very detailed manner. At Silpakorn University, we where very impressed with the commitment and interest that the students showed at the workshops as well as at our concert. Its nice to show up at a place where students have transcribed parts of our solos, have detailed questions prepared and arent shy to participate. Everyone seems serious about wanting to learn more about jazz theory and jazz history as well as how modern jazz improvisation works.
Phnom Penh:
The next stop was Cambodia where Nicolas from the Meta House in Phnom Penh did a great job at promoting our show. The Meta House is a very important cultural center that has a gallery, film school as well as language classes and concerts. Although there were not as many Khmers in the audience as I would have liked, we where welcomed by a warm crowd of ex-pats from all over the world and had a very well received show which was sponsored by the Goethe Institut.
Kota Kinabalu:
After staying up all night and getting lost on a Tuk Tuk racing through Phnom Penh, we made it to the airport just in time to fly to Kota Kinabalu. Right after getting off the plane we had to give a 2 hour press conference with all the other artists from the Sabah Jazz Festival where the show was packed with around 2000 people who where in high spirits and welcomed us with open arms. Roger, who is a guitarist himself, had spent six months emailing with me to make this show happen. His crew was extremely well organized and we where taken care of very well.

Jakarta:
After going directly to the Airport from a noodle shop in Kota Kinabalu we where picked up by a very kind man named Chucho. We had a great young trio open up for us and had a packed room with very interested audience members interviewing me on stage for 50 minutes about my approach to music and about who has influenced me in the past.

Saigon:
The next day we flew to Vietnam, where the concert in Saigon turned out quite different than expected. Our concert at the Ho Chi Minh Conservatory was canceled last minute due to a political situation involving the son of some high official who decided to do a recital the same day that the concert was scheduled. Rod , our promoter, saved the show by moving it to an incredible location right on the banks of the Makong River called the Boat House. It was hard to beat in terms of the view, atmosphere and the food. He also turned out to be a great host who showed us the best BBQ and even organized a boat to get to the gig. He is doing something very important in Saigon because Jazz is still a new music in Vietnam and needs all the help it can get.

Hong Kong:
Then we flew to Honge Kong which with its mind boggling views was a great final destination for the Tour. The promoter, Clarence, is such a cultivated jazz expert who really made us feel at home instantly. The vibe at Sky Lark was very warm and the people that showed up despite the Taifun warnings seemed to be very well educated in the jazz repertoire. David, the owner, is a great guy who loves good music and treats musicians with a lot of respect.

I want to thank Mark, Hong, Nicolas, Roger, Chico and Beyond Productions, Rod and Clarence for their hard work. I also want to thank Paul and Matthieu for playing our music so well and being willing to take such a stressfull yet adventurous trip with me. I also want to thank the Berliner Senat for making the tour possible as well as the Goethe Institut for contributing to the Phnom Penh concert.I also want to thank Ulla for all her help and support, Uwe for producing my records and Hans for joining our team in Germany.
